Zirconia toughened alumina powder (ZTA powder) ZTA is zirconia toughened alumina composite powder. It uses high-purity α-alumina as the matrix and is evenly doped with 3YSZ yttrium-stabilized zirconia nanoparticles. The zirconia grains are dispersed and distributed among the alumina grain boundaries through a wet compounding process.
Combining the two major advantages of alumina's high hardness and low cost with the phase change toughening and high toughness of zirconia, it makes up for the shortcomings of pure alumina, which is brittle and prone to cracking. It is a special raw material for mid-to-high-end wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant structural ceramics.

ZTA powder production and preparation process

3. Impurity removal and filtration
Magnetic separation removes iron impurities, and the filter screen filters large particles to eliminate black spots and pore defects in the finished product.
4. Spray granulation
The slurry is added with a binder and spray-dried to produce spherical granulated powder, which has good fluidity and is suitable for dry pressing and isostatic pressing molding.
5. Powder screening and packaging
Classify and screen, control the particle size range, detect purity, fluidity, bulk density and then package the finished product.

1. Toughness far exceeds that of pure alumina ceramics
Intergranular zirconium oxide is phase-changed and toughened, and cracks are automatically stopped when encountering zirconium particles, making it less likely to chip or break.
2. High hardness and excellent wear resistance
It retains the high hardness of alumina, low friction loss, and its service life is 2-3 times that of ordinary alumina.
3. The bending resistance and impact resistance are greatly improved.
Resistant to drops and impacts, suitable for components that withstand alternating impact forces.
4. Corrosion resistance and strong chemical stability
Resistant to acid, alkali, salt solution and molten media erosion, and does not react with most chemical materials.

The thermal expansion coefficient is low, the deformation is small under hot and cold cycles, and the tolerances of precision parts are stable.

The granulated powder has good fluidity, wide sintering temperature range, high density of finished product and few pores.

After sintering, it can be polished, drilled, cut, and mirror polished, and is suitable for all types of precision finishing.
