Strontium carbonate

Strontium carbonate, chemical formula SrCO3, colorless prismatic crystal or white powder. At 926 ℃, it transforms into a hexagonal crystal system. Melting point 1497 ℃ (6.08 × 106Pa), relative density 3.70. Slightly soluble in water, slightly soluble in saturated solutions of carbon dioxide, soluble in ammonium chloride, ammonium nitrate, and carbonate solutions. It reacts with dilute hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, and acetic acid to release carbon dioxide. At 820 ℃, it begins to decompose, and at 1340 ℃, it gradually loses carbon dioxide. At white heat, it completely decomposes into strontium oxide and carbon dioxide, and the gas can reach 1.01 × 105Pa.
The application of strontium carbonate is used to manufacture cathode ray tubes, electromagnets, strontium ferrites, pyrotechnics, fluorescent glass, etc. for color televisions. It is also a raw material for the production of other strontium salts and serves as the basic powder for the production of specialized PTC thermistor components. As a carrier for palladium, it can be used for hydrogenation. In addition, it is also used for papermaking, analytical reagents, sugar refining, metal zinc electrolyte refining, strontium salt pigment manufacturing, etc. Strontium carbonate powder is mainly used in the production of strontium ferrite magnetic materials, non-ferrous metal smelting, red fireworks, and the manufacture of high-purity strontium carbonate for advanced electronic components such as PTC. Mainly used in the production of TV glass and display glass, strontium ferrite, magnetic materials, and non-ferrous metal desulfurization industries. It is also used in the production of fireworks, fluorescent glass, papermaking, analytical reagents, and as a raw material for the manufacture of other strontium salts.
